Our Story
Recovery has given us a life we never could have imagined. Between us, we share nearly twenty years of sobriety and those years have taught us how much strength comes from accountability, community, and service. For a long time, we thought sober living was something to resist. But when we finally took that step, it became the foundation for the kind of lasting recovery we’d been searching for.

Today, we’re raising four boys (including a set of twins) and we were married in 2022. Being parents has shaped the way we see recovery. Just like raising kids, early sobriety requires structure, consistency, patience, and love. Boys thrive when they’re given safe boundaries and strong role models, and we believe men in early recovery do too.

That’s why we built Discovery Sober Living: a home rooted in family values, where accountability and support aren’t punishments — they’re lifelines. Our story is proof that recovery works, and it’s our mission to create the same kind of safe, steady environment for men who are ready to rebuild their lives.
Ashley Spencer
Realtor + Mom
Ashley knows firsthand how powerful community and accountability can be in recovery. With eight years of sobriety, she has built her life on the values of honesty, service, and compassion. As a mother of four boys (and Ryan), Ashley understands the importance of structure, patience, and unconditional support and she brings those qualities into Discovery Sober Living every day. Alongside her work in recovery, Ashley is also a licensed realtor, where she helps families find safe and supportive homes. Her heart for helping others and her lived experience make her a steady presence for men who are working to rebuild their lives.
Ryan Spencer
Addiction Professional + Dad
Ryan has been sober since 2015 and knows how transformative recovery can be when paired with accountability and support. His own journey led him into the behavioral health field, where he now works as an addiction treatment professional. Ryan is passionate about walking alongside others as they take the brave steps into sobriety. As a husband and father of four boys, he brings both lived experience and professional expertise to Discovery Sober Living, helping create a home where men can grow, heal, and thrive.
